High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. I'm striking out today. Table for six for dinner. We ordered immediately ( and I would add efficiently, no special requests). The waiter walked away before getting our toddlers order, so is walked over and had it added. No problem, so far so good. Our toddlers corn dog came out first (we didn't ask for that but I know it's common and that's fine). It was twenty minutes after that, however, before our meals starting coming out. The first three came. Mine had what appeared to be an entire onion sliced up on top of it. No word on the other two, waiter missing. Five minutes later one more comes out and no word the last meal. Waiter missing. I waved him down a few minutes later and he said " oh, it should be out soon". When it came out the potatoes were so cold they felt like they came directly from the fridge, and the steak ordered medium was well done. Waiter missing again. Ten minutes later I went on the hunt for the manager. He was helpful and came to the table and replaced the steak meal. By the time it came out, our toddler was close to bedtime so we had it wrapped to go. Then it was another fifteen minutes before the waiter returned with the check. Sometimes these things happen when a place is super busy... Not the case tonight. I'm tired. I think I will cook at home for a while! Will we be back? Honestly... No. I was surprised the manager didn't come back out to check if things were going smoother.

Normally I do no like Applebee's, BUT tonight was FABULOUS! The absolute best Applebee's I have ever been to, and I've been to a few. Bartender is fabulous. I got Asian Boneless Wings with an appetizer and a beverage and it was the best meal I've had in a while. HIGHLY recommend to visit!

Place was dead and I understand why. Tables open everywhere and we had to wait. Clientele can be rough at this one. Food was pretty good but they were not ready to serve. Table was wobbly as a pine in the wind.

Yep, 5 stars baby! Omg, awesome food, huge selection, open till 2am and the best service. Went there initially with Dad and b-friend. Dad had the ribs. I had a steak and rice with onions off the calorie watch section. So goood! Also spinach aannd artichoke ap. B-friend had a gallon of coffee and shook all night! Great coffee. Beverly, our server, had the hardest customer in the world to deal with, my dad, and passed with flying colors. Went back last night with the girls for half priced apps. Ordered them all. Beverly's section was full but she still served us at another comfy booth. Great food, great times, excellent service! Don't count out your neighborhood bar and grill!

Hey there was not many choices in the area, so I ended up here, how badly can u mess up a salad and s sanwich right? Anyway if it was not for the courteous friendly staff I would've given them a one star, salad was fenced with salad dressing there was no greens hardly in it and the sandwich was not much better it had a pound of maynaise in it, with melted butter and valveda cheese, I should,be just went to the Wendy's down the street!

Very rarely do I find myself at a chain restaurant but every so often I make my way there. And since the food can vary at each chain location (i.e. too much sauce or something of the sort), I figure all in all, it's best to Yelp about each. Anyway... on to the Yelping... I've never been a huge fan of Applebee's but found myself here meeting a friend. We decide to split a spinach dip for an app. Once the dish came out, I was wondering where the rest of our spinach dip went to. The dip itself was hot and creamy but too bad the chips were covered in way too much salt - which is great if you are a deer but I happen to be a human quite close to summer and don't care to retain the water from all the sodium. Anywho, after a bit he ordered the quesadilla burger. As always, I steal a bite. The burger was cooked a perfect medium and was juicy. However, once again just simply too much salt. I decided to partake in the four-cheese grilled cheese and a side of French onion soup. The sandwich wasn't anything to write home about and if that was four cheeses, they probably should have added a fifth as it was a little skimpy. The bread, however, was toasted quite nicely and had a perfect crunch to it. The soup gets a B rating as there was plenty of mozzarella and did the dish justice but could have used a bit more flavor. Any Applebee's I've ever ate at has always been sub par so suppose I should never set my expectations to high here... which is why I rarely dine here. But for me, any eatery is about more than just the food. The atmosphere is also key (and this location is dying for an upgrade) as well as good service. Doesn't matter how good your dishes may be - if your service sucks, I'm blowing this popsicle stand. Can't speak for the servers themselves as I always post up at the bar. Billy is a top notch bartender and deserves your tip - sit at the bar if he's there. And what really saves this location and gives it 3 stars is the drink menu. I appreciate variety and enjoy a cheap, run-of-the-mill margarita every now and again... and again... and again (tequila + Nikki = BFF). The prices are fair and offer up a good selection that should please just about any John or Jane that walks in the place. On this stop, I chose to offer my tongue a SkinnyBee Margarita - skinny drinks have a tendency to lack in taste (well you gotta take something out to make em skinny) but was surprised at the crisp, fresh taste and would get blitzed on those almost any day.

Twice I have been to this location on Dave Lyle Blvd. Twice the service has been incredibly bad. We walked in this Friday afternoon (8/7/15) about 4:30 and waited at the front for ten minutes easy as people who worked there ignored us. The place wasn't busy they were just lazy. Finally after catching one she agreed to seat us and told us someone would be along to wait on us soon. Well time passed and passed and finally my wife literally grabbed someone and they agreed to wait on us. We both ordered water WITHOUT lemon and when they came back with two waters with lemon I had had enough. We left and we shall never return. I hope this review helps someone else decide not to give this place your business.

The hostess may or may not ignore you. Your waitress may or may not check in with you from time to time. Your water glass definitely won't stay full. The food is so hit or miss it's ridiculous...and they'll take something that seems fresh and pair it with something that looks canned. This isn't just the Dave Lyle Applebees, it's every one I've had the misfortune of being invited to by someone else. I have to admit, the ambiance of the crying baby and the guy next to us thinking he was a pimp for taking his lady to such a fine dining establishment as Applebees was beyond amusing. When I heard it was a first date...I almost lost it...his girl brought a baby with on a first date. Great...I'm laughing again. Anyhow...this is where cooks come to work out the basics of being a cook. This is also where people that never get out of the house come.

My experience here was unsatisfactory. Waited 10 minutes to be seated when there were open tables. Then when I finally sat down, there were no menus available for me and was told that it would be 5 minutes to get a menu. I like the steak here and didn't mind waiting. Sat drinking my tea and eating my appetizer (saw it on one of the advertisements that sat on the table) for 15 minutes with an empty cup for 5 minutes until my waitress came to check on me. Still no menus. I finally got the idea to look up the menu online and order that way. Got the queso with Chili and chips for the appetizer and received no Chili. The chips were so salty that if a person ate them who had high blood pressure, they would probably fall over dead with one chip. I asked for chips that weren't so salty and got a batch that was probably worse than the first. Finally got the steak and I ordered it medium, it was well done. My phone is dying and can't finish the review with what I want to say so I'll keep it short from here. Terrible service a LITTLE less terrible food.

My boyfriend and I decided to go to Applebee's last night for our Friday night date night. Well when we got there we got seated immediately, and our waitress came over fairly quickly to get us drinks and an appetizer. Our appetizer came fairly quickly and then she ordered our food, this was around 6:30. Well an hour went by of us waiting for our food then finally our waitress came over and told us she realized when putting in our order, it didn't go through and that she had just done so and our food would do our shortly. Well by this time my boyfriend and I are both extremely hot headed and ill. I believe the manager could tell that when she came over to apologize for the delay. She then came back and told us she was making our dinner completely free of charged due. She also told us she would personally bring us our food. Well she disappeared and got caught up behind the bar, so another 10 or 15 minutes went by with still no food. So Finally my boyfriend and I just got up and left. Worse experience I have ever had at a restaurant. We got better service at Buffalo Wild Wings during NFL playoffs. We will never be going back to the Applebee's in Rock Hill. The service sucks and even the manager didn't fix the problem!
